Volunteerism and community building are important to me, and non-profit management is incredibly rewarding.
Supported the organization's 2023 Nature Knowledge Days.
Educated students on tamarisk threat to native cotton wood trees at Devils Canyon.
Designed a website and all web copy from scratch to market a Parent Teacher Organization's programs and events.
Created the organization’s motto (Giving, so they can grow).
“Teamed up” with a group of neighbors to advocate for more recreational opportunities in our community. Having achieved its goals, the organization dissolved in November 2017:
Mobilized community support, with great results, to deliver recreational opportunities (2 new parks) and 1.2M in park impact fee revenue to residents in a small town.
Managed all volunteer coordination, partnerships, and reported to the Board.
Developed all capital project datasheets and programs.
Delivered marketing communications, branding, press articles, outreach and event planning, social media campaigns, & web content.
Filed all necessary state and federal paperwork for nonprofit status, incorporation, and dissolution.
Performed all bookkeeping, tax reporting/filing, recruitment, grant proposal writing, and strategic planning.
Delivered community presentation before large audiences.
Spearheaded two partnerships:
Partnered with Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge (federal) on a watershed event. Federal agency provided the trees and native plants. I recruited the volunteers to plant trees and pick up trash that infiltrated Plummer's Creek and created the event's educational banner.
Partnered with Safe Routes To School on a Bike NOW program that distributed helmets to school kids and repaired bikes.
Supported this new PTO organization through its startup phase.
Delivered the org’s first website and content and managed social media campaigns and branding.
Participated in event planning, fundraising, and volunteer recruitment.
Deployed two native plant gardens for elementary school, and coordinated applied science in the classrooms.
Assisted Biologist Rachel Tertes in a 2-week, 2007-2012 population comparison survey of a federally endangered salt marsh harvest mouse situated in New Chicago Marsh in Alviso, CA.
Set traps and released mice, after having identified species and recorded measurements.
Trapped, fixed, and released (TNR) 20 feral cats in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Fostered and placed 15 non-feral cats.
Assisted an NGO in its initiative to provide micro-lending to improve nutrition in developing countries.
Recorded loan repayments and members’ income-generating activities within agriculture/animal production, food/non-agricultural commerce, and craft industries.
Recorded child nutrition data to evaluate correlations between rise in women’s income and child nutrition, resulting in support for program's effectiveness.
Generated reports to monitor program development; compared lending program's performance between countries.
Explained environmental mandates and certification requirements to state purchasing agents; worked primarily with AB 4, 11, and 939. Analyzed procurement plans and reports for accuracy and compliance.
Provided recommendations on how to meet procurement goals given procurement processes, limited resources, and technological constraints. Delivered expenditure reporting to the CA Legislature.
Supported the legislative lobbyist, Robert White Battle, attending CA Legislature subcommittee hearings.
Researched key issues and drafted position letters based on the lobbyist’s pre-defined arguments; retrieved bill information; delivered packages and position letters to legislators.
Ran the org’s 1992 Earned Income Tax Credit campaign on college campus to reach low income population.
Spearheaded grassroots outreach to a parent club, increasing the disposable income of several student families.
